Ender Posted June 18, 2009 Report Share Posted June 18, 2009 Copio/pego directamente del post de GF The refueling order is NOT 1, 2, 3, 4. The correct order is 1, 3, 2, 4. This is the procedure we do and it works for us every time in MP: #1 only calls the tanker at first by pressing Y->1 (press Y then 1). Once #1 is in position and ready to take fuel, he presses Y then 2 to inform the tanker he's ready to take fuel. #1 takes fuel and when he's finished he presses Y then 3 as he fades to the right wing of the tanker. Whenever you press Y 3 the tanker will kind of jolt or wiggle his wings, but after that he will clear in #3. #3 doesn't need to press Y->1 as the tanker will automatically clear him in so don't have #3 press Y->1. The only thing #3 has to do is get into position then press Y->2 to let the tanker know he's in position and ready to take fuel. Once #3 has finished taking fuel, he presses Y->3, then moves to the right. After #3 "clears the tanker" (presses Y then 3) the tanker will clear #2 to pre-contact position. Again #2 shouldn't press Y->1, all he should do is press Y->2 when he's in position and ready to take fuel. When #2 is finished he presses Y->3 and moves to the right. After #2 presses Y->3 to let the tanker know he's finished, the tanker will clear in #4. When #4 is in position, he presses Y->2 then takes fuel, and when he's finished he presses Y->3 and that's it. The only issue you have to be careful of (and this is a issue in 4.5 as well) is that you have to have all the aircraft in your flight at the tanker, including the AI. If you go to get fuel from the tanker and your #3 was an AI and you sent #3 home earlier, the tanker will not put down his boom for any aircraft but #3 after #1 is done. Since the order is 1, 3, 2, 4, when #1 is done the tanker will clear in #3 and if #3 isn't there, you have a problem. Same goes if you had a 4-ship of human pilots. If your #2 isn't near the tanker and you only have #1, #3, and #4 at the tanker, your #1 and #3 will be able to get fuel no problem but when it's #2's turn, he won't give fuel to anyone other then #2, so #4 who is after #2 will be unable to take fuel. If you have the entire flight at the tanker, you can skip a pilot if you want with no problem. For example, if your #2 is really low on fuel and you want him to take fuel first, #1 should call the tanker, and once the tanker clears him in, #1 should press Y->3 to say he's done and the tanker will clear in #3, then #3 should press Y->3 to let the tanker know he's done, and then the tanker will clear in #2 and #2 can take fuel first. If you do that, once #4 presses Y->3 the tanker will clear in #1 again and #3 can take fuel after #1. So the important thing to do is clear the tanker (press Y->3) when you or your flight is finished so the tanker will put the boom down for the next guy(s). And Raptor is correct, only you will see the boom come down for you. The other pilots won't see the boom come down for you. One other small tip that we've tested: Sometimes we need to have 3 -4 tankers in the same area to refuel a large package at the same time. Whenever you are going to take fuel from a tanker and there are other tankers nearby, #1 shouldn't press Y->1 until he's within 10miles of the tanker. If he calls the tanker too soon, he may get a response from the wrong tanker. So the best idea is to get your tanker's air-to-air tacan so you can get within 10 miles of your tanker and then call him. If there aren't any tankers nearby your tanker, you can call the tanker a lot earlier so he's at altitude and speed when you get to him. And if you're in a hurry, you can do the Quick Flow procedure shown below. Note that we've changed #2 to #3 since the refueling order in OF is 1, 3, 2, 4. Hay una explicación del Refueling de la pag 89 del Dash de OF que es prácticamente esto mismo aunque sin los dibujitos que ganan puntos para que se entienda mejor. Por cierto, ande te metes?!?!?
