Versiones: Pilot, Pro y Trainner. Por ahora solo esta disponible la Pilot.

La version Pilot no tendra 2D y tampoco arranque rapido (Ctrl+E). Pero si tendra pop-up del FMC etc.

Desde la pagina Facebook page:

PRO version will add 2D panels, Head-up guiding system, working circuit breakers, more FMS functions, scenario based failures, scripting and some abnormal procedure features like alternate gear extension.

TRAINING will add a system control application, a cockpit hardware interface (a network adaptor), panels as separate executables, even more FMS functions (like maintenance functions) and a custom flight data recorder.

Every version will be supplied with an appropriated documentation set. Pilot version docs will contain only normal operations, Pro docs - will add abnormal procedures, Training docs will be worth for preparing a type rating on a Q400.
We are still unsure wether there will be one more version for home cockpit builders or the Training will suffice

Framerate is not an issue, as not a single tester complained about it. Compared with concurrency, it's much lighter on fps than similar products.
MJC8 calculates systems and flight dynamics on other CPU cores than the one used by FSX. You can even specify, in the ini file, which core will be calculating graphics and which one systems. This results in a quite heavy processor load but without any significant impact on the framerate.

NOTE: Purchase with confidence. If you wish to upgrade to the Pro or Trainer version when these become available, you will be doing so at no extra cost, just pay the difference.

Joseti, corrigeme si me he equivocado en algo!

It's a complex simulation of a complex aicraft, that uses complex functions to achieve things like realistic throttle / disc / reverse utilization....... there are a couple of bugs. But there are also dozens of examples of people who aren't following the info in the docs, or are assuming things and when it's not working for them, screaming bug.

With a simulation that is using so much data and reference outside of FSX, and with complex throttle setups, then getting things configures correctly is critical. Eg... the wrong values in the Control Panel for your throttles are going to cause a lot of frustration, but if people are patient and set things up step by step, it's almost perfect out of the box.

I know it annoys people to say it, but truly, from about 16 hours of flying time and 12 rotations, the only real bugs I've come across so far, are the sound bug (when ATC is used), and the bouncing on the ground when Opus or EZCA is bein used for DHM effects.

Everything else can be fine tuned and/or resolved.

Algun comentario negativo:

I've now spent the best part of 9 hours testing out the Q400 and I'd like to give my opinions. Frankly I was surprised but hopeful when I first heard people gushing about the quality. Lots of guys have compared it to the NGX and many have said it surpasses the PMDG aircraft - at the moment I'm afraid they're wrong, the NGX still can rest easy, the Q400 has some way to go.

Don't get me wrong, the VC and external visuals are very good indeed. Crisp and sharp with lots of detail. Engine sounds are deep and impressive - from the cockpit, although from spot view they're disappointingly muted. Lots have commented on the detail sounds in the flight deck - well yes, some are good and there is a good variety of click and lever sounds. However there is something about the sound mix that is wrong - too many click sounds sound wrongly placed - small switches make big unnatural clunking sounds when moved, a few don't have any sound at all. The NGX sound set is extremely well blended and natural.

The FMS modelling is already frustrating. SIDs that don't draw correctly are unacceptable. It's clear that the Nav data isn't being read and interpreted properly. Direct To's don't work 50 % of the time. The track line disappears when selecting a Direct To and LNAV goes wildly off track. Go-around procedures are not depicted properly either - it's a shame.

On the topic of go-arounds - it might be me, but there doesn't seem to be anyway of binding a key to the GO-AROUND button on the power lever. The default FSX command doesn't work with it. Majestic's control panel doesn't allow any special key bindings - this is a glaring omission in a product of this type. Performing a GA by panning your view to click a power lever click spot is a nightmare and not realistic. The same goes for the Autopilot disconnect function - there is no yoke disconnect key, pressing z gives you the wrong indications and visual warnings.

There's a couple of other small bugs - it seems the attitude indicator is 2-3 degrees nose down on the ground - it should read 0 degrees. When tuned to an ILS the DME value jitters to and fro about 0.8 nm as well.

Unfortunately there seems to be a major issue with the elevator / trim / autopilot interaction. I've just finished a flight with a nose dive into the ground. The autopilot doesn't seem to trim out the elevator to a neutral position in any stage of flight (you can see this on the PFCS indicator) - meaning that when you disconnect the A/P the aircraft you get is badly out of trim - very frustrating results if you're at 200'. Is it using the default FSX autopilot by any chance?

It must be said that documentation is poor. The tutorial is a not very helpful and the systems manual is rather short. The 'checklist' is a weird combination of normal procedure flow and checklists, which is hard to follow. Importantly there are no profiles or flight patterns that explain actions and sequence of take off climb and approach.

I'm sorry for the negative post, but with high expectations and a £40 outlay I feel the comments are valid. I really want to support dedicated devs like Majestic but at the moment the Q400 falls some way short of NGX standards. I hope that service packs and the PRO version can go some way to iron out the niggles.

Y otros que contestan:

I think you are expecting way too much from an airplane when it is first released. Keep in mind PMDG has had to release quick servicepacks at least once for their airplanes after released to fix problems before. Nobody is denying there might be small bugs here and there, but everyone is looking at the big picture, and the big picture is the Majestic Dash 8 is the most complex, complete addon released for FSX. Amazing quality and so light on frames it seems impossible to be true. After a few patches I know it will be perfect

---

well, I am not a Q400 type rated pilot, but this part (and the others) was extensively tested by real Q400 pilots and approved by them. The Q400 FMS is different from the B737's one in many aspects, including how it draws the flight path. For some types of legs you can have an impression that the flightplan dissapears while it's just drawn outside the visible area. The aircraft will fly 60° course to such a leg and the leg drawing will appear sooner or later.

Bear in mind also that there are different versions of FMS on the Q400. If in your real Dash it is not drawn this way, it doesn't mean it's incorrect.

As for the attitude, the plane is leaninig forward while on ground, so it's normal to have a negative indication

Hasta la proxima...

Saludos

Right now found out a nice go around if you use Feelthere plane + Navdata Pro
First make a safety copy of the original airac file of the q400.
Then only copy the actual airac file nd.mdb from /feelthere/Nd/ to SimObjects/Airplanes/mjc8q400/nav

voila... ready to use Navdata Pro airac qith the Q400 :)

Re: Elevator authority.

If you read up a lot, on the Q400, look at YouTube videos, other discussion forums, etc, many real world pilots will talk of how the Q400 needs to be flown quite differently to most aircraft, on approach and flare; Speed is everything but also, with the Q400 you really need to fly it onto the runway.

Check out the Just Planes FlyBe DVD (I think there may be a clip on YouTube), and watch Stan Woods (RW FlyBE Dash Training Capitan) doing his landings..... unlike what you may be used to, where you are retarding power anywhere between 100' (eg... CRJ), and 20' (eg... A320), in the Q400, you will be retarding anywhere between 5' and 0' (in otherwords after main wheel contact).

If you retard power in the Q400 at, say, 50' no amount of elevator movement will avoid a heck of a thump of a landing!

Fly it all the way to the runway; with as many 'on the nose' movements as pulling back; it's not an aircraft that needs a flare as such; more like leveling out; making contact, then retarding. Or you can retard at 5' as long as your approach has been smooth and certain and you're not ballooning at 5', in which case, you'll still have a hard landing.

At low speeds, the Q400 is no glider! Those huge propellers have a massive drag effect, especially at low speeds, and especially when un-feathered (which they will be for landing).

The excellent Q400 for X-Plane (by FlyJSim) also models this very realistically, and similarly when it was first released everyone wasn't happy about their landing performances, and questioned the FDE laugh.png

I'm not a real world Q400 pilot, but have loved and researched this aircraft for about as long as Majestic have been! smile.png .. I also flew rw FlyBE Q400 from EGBB to Guernsey twice per week, for 6 years, and when in the real aircraft, there is no mistaking that you can hear the power staying on, until main wheel contact.

http://forum.avsim.net/topic/405864-q400-impressions/

:game:

Hola RB,

Aerosoft:

http://secure.simmarket.com/aerosoft-online-dash-8-q400-for-x-plane-(es_6528).phtml

FlyJsim:

http://www.flyjsim.com/index.php?option=com_k2&view=item&id=28:dash-8-q400&Itemid=2

http://support.precisionmanuals.com/KB/a54/pmdg-development-schedule.aspx

Saludos
