Enhanced performance and graphical capabilities enabled by the new Microsoft DirectX 12 rendering engine.

Realistic sky, clouds, and atmosphere with Simul trueSKY integration.

Dynamic ocean with NVIDIA WaveWorks 2.0.

Added sloped runway support including AI takeoff and landing capabilities.

Updated over 24,000 airports with new data across the entire globe.

Updated global terrain, elevation, water/shoreline data, and traffic routes.

Added SIDS and STARS visualization support for gauges.

Added prompt to warn if GPU memory has run out with option to revert graphics settings.

Updated runway surface textures to 4k PBR textures.

Updated various airport and land class textures.

Updated various road, railroad, stream, shoreline, and wake textures.

Sloped various airports across the globe.

trueSKY is a software development kit that allows realistic skies, clouds and atmospheric effects to be rendered in real time on a variety of platforms. From the culmination of many years of research and development, it is based on physical principles of light scattering and absorption, and is highly optimized for speed. We believe it is the best-performing system for realistic, real-time skies and clouds.

Being DX12 it means you better be on Windows 10.

They changed the way the system renders from multi linear to single linear, this improves performance of course but it depends on each individual hardware and user settings. Your questions are tricky as my exposure has been only with my current hardware which also runs V4, I see a slightly increase in performance but with much better visual. Bear in mind I use "on purpose" a GTX 980 TI and an Intel core 6700K at 4.5 hGz. this is because I like developing in a low-mid size hardware equipment in order to ensure my add-ons have zero performance impact to end users.

It is better to wait until LM releases what they recommend to have as minimum system requirements.

I read somewhere that ADE already supports P3Dv5..does that include sloped runways support, and how does that actually work in practice? Does anyone have any info or even better, a video of updated ADE in action?  I think it will take some considerable time for Devs (like uk2000) to implement sloped runways and we may need to get jiggy with ADE to make use of some of the updated features in the short term?

The developer of this tool is part of the V5 Beta :wink

To add, it seems aircraft work fine in our test and we are already updating the installers.

saludos

en relacion a la V5 y el Maddog X:

Quote

Hello Captains,

Shared Cockpit testing is proceeding quite well, and we plan to release our new build as open beta at the beginning of next week.

This new release, free for all customers, will be an incremental update that needs 1.5b506 installed on your sistem to run. Full installers in simMarket will follow in about two weeks.

Shared Cockpit is just a part of the new build as mentioned in a previous topic, however with this release we consider the Maddog X development cycle completed for what we have promised back in 2018: Fly the Maddog X has seen a lot of updates and improvements during these two years (always for free), most of which were not planned at the beginning, like real full PBR models. What's next?

There is FS2020, we want to make a dedicated Fly the Maddog X version for sure, altough it's too early giving details around a new simulator still in development.

There's also the new Prepar3d v5, just announced, and on this topic I'm glad to announce that shortly after its release there will be a dedicated Fly the Maddog X version available.

Fly the Maddog X v5 edition will cost a bit more than the v4.5 version, being today a much more mature and stable product with a lot of features available if compared to our first release, BUT actual customers will be entitled to purchase v5 edition just for the difference of the two editions, similar to what we do with our 32 and 64 bit editions upgrade policy. No price tag yet, since it's strictly related on how much work will be needed to port actual v4.5 version to v5.

As a bonus, when upgrading the MD-82 base pack to v5, customers that purchased the MD83/MD88 expansion will be able to transfer their MD-83/MD-88 expansion pack license to the new v5 edition for free.

New simulators aside, we want to introduce new expansion packs that will be sold separately, to further enhance your experience with Fly the Maddog X; more details will come soon.

Thanks for your attention and good flights!

This video was done on my primary PC (the NASA PC) as I wanted to compare FPS from my V4.5 ORBX GB South install. Same graphics settings in v4.5 (except no atmospheric option) = 15 FPS, in V5 fairly consistent 30 FPS.

Graphics settings are at the end of the video. Note: a few things missing in the ORBX GB South and EGLC when I did the add-on.cfg transition and terrain.cfg. Also, included the TEXTURE_SIZE_EXP=10 in prepar3d.cfg hence the increased VRAM/RAM usage.

Hardware: 9900K 5.2Ghz, 32GB RAM 4133Mhz, Titan RTX

Luego salta otra vez a P3D y vuelta a empezar.
