This was declared at the same time as the Americans from Boeing admitted that they too have submitted briefings to the UAE Air Force and Air Defence about F-18 and F-15. French Defence minister Gerard Longuet (the man that almost every week over the past few months has been claiming that the deal was almost done), the Joint Staff Admiral Edouard Guillard and French Air Force chief Jean-Paul Palomeros met high ranking UAE officials to try to better understand the situation. And they certainly haven't lost their voice to speak too much with the media, stating things that, frankly, seem unrealistic: "the Rafale is our fifth generation fighter and we are eager to share this future with the UAE". "Discussions are going well and they are happy with what they see". Languet was quoted as remaining confident that the UAE would sign for the Rafale by the end of the year. Only Dassault - wisely probably - refused to comment on the negotiations. Why did the French do that though we wonder? Nobody can explain it, as previous lessons should have been learnt and the "amazing" results achieved so far by exporting Rafale, should mean a different tactical approach for the French. amalahama Posted November 16, 2011 Report Share Posted November 16, 2011 Hombre con dos clientes ya tiene una cartera de pedidos más grande que el rafale y la campaña de exportación del EFA está en pleno apogeo, ahora estamos preparando una verdadera variante de exportación que es lo que se está ofreciendo ahora, diferente a una copia de los aviones que iban a los países "core" que es lo que se hacía en el pasado. Por cierto no sé si alguno ha visto el video del RIAT de este año. Las exhibiciones del EFA por lo general son una basura, malas y aburridas, con una tabla de acrobacias muy clásica y poco espectacular. En el RIAT hizo la misma rutina de siempre, y sería igual de aburrida... si no fuera porque llevaba 4 GBU-16 y 2 tanques de 1000 litros a cuestas!!! Es muy muy bueno. Si no es un logro que lo usen 6 países y que haya acumulado más de 130000 horas...entonces dimelo.... Lo utilizan 6 países porque lo han desarrollado 4 de ellos. Yo un producto amazing en exportación considero el F-16, el Mig-21 o el Mig-29, por ejemplo. Que estoy de acuerdo en que el Eurofighter se ha vendido en buenos números teniendo en cuenta el panorama actual, lo que me parece lamentable es la elección de la palabra, máxime cuando si la India elige el Rafale, los gabachos ya habrán exportado más Rafales que Eurofighters EADS... Another chapter of the UAE-Dassault saga has emerged here at Dubai Air show 2011: yesterday afternoon something very special happened. The United Arab Emirates, which has been in negotiations with France's Dassault for the purchase of at least 60 Rafale fighters said that negotiations have effectively stalled because the proposed deal was "uncompetitive and unworkable." And who was it that said that? It was the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Deputy of the country's armed forces, that in a statement to the national news agency WAM said: "Thanks to President Sarkozy, France could not have done more diplomatically or politically to secure the Rafale deal. Regrettably Dassault seem unaware that all the diplomatic and political will in the world cannot overcome uncompetitive and unworkable commercial terms." This came as another shock for the French after Sunday when they discovered that the deal, which has been under negotiation for three years (you will remember that an announcement was expected - so the French said - at Le Bourget 2009 and then at Dubai 2009), was thrown into doubt when it became clear that the UAE had asked for details on the Rafale's rival - one offering better performances and capabilities - Eurofighter Typhoon. (Awwwww yeah, N.T) At the show it looks like a joker wanted to make a joke with Dassault and put a Eurofighter sticker on the Rafale stand. En cambio si se lo lleva el Rafale, este ya habrá exportado más que el EFA y el autor del blog se tendrá que comer sus pullas con patatas No me malinterpreteis, el EFA me parece más avión que el Rafale, con más capacidad de crecimiento, y prefiero que sea este el que se lleve el gato al agua. En cuanto a los paises escandinavos pues ya no se que decir, mirad: Los gobiernos de India, Grecia, Qatar, Omán, Corea del Sur, Dinamarca, Suiza, Turquía, Rumania, Malasia y Bulgaria están también considerando la compra de la aeronave. Puede que haya interés, y alguien este pensando en tenerlo como alternativa para ir evaluando los reeemplazos para los F-16 (fundamentalmente los MLU Holandeses), pero dudo que antes de unos 10 años algo se concrete (y dependerá de los precios del cobre, crisis mundiales y, por supuesto, si sobrevivimos al 2012 ) Saludos Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
